Ting Xu Appointed to Virginia Port Authority Board of Commissioners, Richmond CenterStage Foundation Board of Directors

RICHMOND, VA (August 5, 2011) – On July 22nd, Governor Bob McDonnell announced appointments to ten Virginia boards and commissions. Included among these selections was Ting Xu, President of Evergreen Enterprises, who was appointed to the Virginia Port Authority Board of Commissioners. The governor recognized Xu along with the other new members of the Board of Commissioners for being a successful business leader who “understands competition, international business and trade,” said Transportation Secretary, Sean T. Connaughton.

“Given the critical importance of the port, the governor wanted to bring in a whole new board composed of business people who understand competition and trade,” Connaughton continued. “That means people who can read a balance sheet and make decisions based on business experience.”

The port authority's board, which oversees the direction and strategy of the state agency and appoints and sets compensation for its executive director, serves at the pleasure of the governor. Members are appointed to five-year terms.

July also saw the appointment of Ting Xu to the Richmond CenterStage Foundation Board of Directors. Formerly known as the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation, CenterStage was formed in 2001 to be a catalyst for creative and vibrant arts throughout the Richmond region, bringing a new performance center to the city.

At the time of Xu's appointment, Bob Mooney, Chairman of the CenterStage Foundation Board of Directors, noted, “We are all looking forward to working with our newest colleagues to make CenterStage one of the premier performing arts venues on the East Coast.”

Ting Xu plans to stay focused on Evergreen Enterprises while serving on these boards, considering these appointments an honor and a way for her to give back to the state of Virginia as a good corporate citizen.
